Simple Ideas to Make Your Office Better

6:06 AM

I find it rather difficult to stay seated for a long period of time and when you're a blogger, it's hard not to. If you work in an office, then you know what I mean. Sometimes, I'll stop for the day because I just don't want to be in the same space.

I have some simple ideas to make your office or work space more inviting and maybe it'll even make you want to stay for just a little bit longer.

Get Yourself Organized

One of the things that can deter you from wanting to be creative or productive is a cluttered desk or work area. You can create a free and open space by incorporating easy methods of organization. This could include magazine holders for folders and papers that you need readily at hand but out of the way, trays to sort papers (inbox, outbox, etc.) and draw organizers for other things such as staplers, scissors and tape that you don't need on your desk at all times.

Add Some Scents

You don't have to go crazy with this. Your work space doesn't need to smell like the Ambercrombie and Fitch store in the mall, but should include scents you love. If you're not sure what to have, try a citrus scent. It's been known that the smell of lemons, oranges, etc. is actually uplifting and can give you a boost in productivity.

Visual Interest

Add some eye candy (and no, I'm not talking about a racey photo). By adding a piece or 2 of artwork to your space, you can instantly become inspired to create more or continue with your daily tasks. Let's face it, it's better to look at than a board full of memos, right? It doesn't have to be anything special either. You can visit Pinterest for the perfect piece. There are thousands of free printables out there to choose from.

Add Some Greenery

Add a plant. A little greenery goes a long way and there are plants out there you can purchase that require little watering and sunlight. Don't forget the fact that plants clean the air around you so that's a perk right there!

Let There Be Light

If at all possible, add some lighting. Good lighting...not that florescent junk. If you work in an office building, there's a good chance you already have that but by adding softer lighting to your work space, it will create a homey feeling and a feeling of calm. This is a great option for those who are a little stressed and find it difficult to concentrate sometimes.
