An Organized Pantry in the Making

12:00 AM

My love of organizing has spread throughout my home yet my pantry has been neglected. How? Well, I've tried working on it over and over again, but one project or another takes over and it gets ignored. I've recently started working on it again and this is what I have so far.

I think that the reason why I've pushed it aside for other projects is because I really don't know what to do with it. This is really the most organized I have had it yet. I'm starting to think that I need to get larger shelving. This shelf system seems to be too small for everything I need to store.

Now obviously this was a closet before. You can still see the rod going across. My goal for this would be Ikea style organization. I would much rather utilize it than take it out. For now, it  holds my plastic bag dispenser.

In the mean time, this is what I've come up with. I purchased dollar store bins to store either glass containers of things that would otherwise make a mess like pasta, rice, cereal, oil, flour, sugar, etc.

I used chalkboard labels and twine to tie them most of them with. I've used these labels throughout my kitchen.

The wire bins on the side are used for packets of oatmeal, other breakfast items and more baking needs. ( I typically only use marshmallows when baking.)

The top shelf is where I store extra paper towels, toilet paper and tissues. I still have yet to find a place for my daughter's Easy Bake Oven she never uses. Talk about a waste of money! I also save the latest VoxBoxes until I'm done with reviews and such.

So far, this is what I have done. Do you have any suggestions? Share them below!

  2. Love this post! I also recently organized my pantry and after many attempts over the years, I finally found a similar system to this! It wasn't until I started to put everything into storage bins, like you did here, that things have finally found their place and it's easy to keep it maintained! Great post! :)

  6. Your pantry is looking good. I have been working on mine too. I had to stop because I have more pressing things that I need to do. The Dollar store have some great storage items.

  7. I have an awkward thin cupboard that I'm trying to get to grips with now, I like the red containers you found, bright and practical. Sometimes it's hard to find how to use the space most effectively, I'm off to look for some containers that will fit my space, then with cute labels like yours I will be on my way to total cupboard organisation!

    1. Well, if I did indeed need the closet space then I wouldn't have one either. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I love that you used some baskets with handles on them. I can see that this would make it super easy to grab them out of the pantry, take them directly to your cooking/baking area, and easily clean up/store when you are done. I always feel like I'm grabbing a bunch of individual ingredients when many, especially baking items, could be toted together.

  12. I've been battling my extra small pantry. It is really narrow and deep which makes it extremely difficult for the family to keep organized. I love how yours is turning out. I might have to try baskets with handles. That's a great idea. Pinned & shared. Thanks for joining the Inspiration Spotlight party @DearCreatives

  13. Organization is a wonderful thing. I do something similar with baskets and canisters. Makes a huge difference and makes grab and go and cooking a breeze.

  14. I love the chalkboard labels! When I was a teacher the dollar store was my go to for storage bins to organize my class. I was actually just using some bins from the Dollar Tree that I brought home from my classroom to organize things in my closet like scarves and craft items.
I have yet to organize my whole pantry, but I do have a few things in bins. I love bins with high sides for little things that might fall out. For example I have a bin full of extra mason jar lids. For large things like my big bottles of oil and assortment of vinegar bottles I prefer something with lower sides so that I don't have to pull the whole bin off the shelf to pull out one bottle. Right now I just have them in an aluminum casserole pan I had left over from a 2 pack I got at Walmart.
Where did you get your chalkboard labels from?

    1. They're actually from the Dollar Tree. :) I just cut them out with the backing still on them rather than taking the sticker off and tied them with twine. :)
