How I Plan: A Look Inside My Organized Planner

12:00 AM

I've recently fallen for the planner addiction a lot of people have also fallen for. I couldn't find one that I liked. I wanted something simple with large spaces to print on. I came across this one at Minted.com and loved the fact that I was able to customize the cover!

I found this pretty planner and instantly fell in love. I liked the little gold heart and the pretty pastel pink. My name also appears in their gold color. It's spiral bound and sturdy. It's well put together with a plastic cover front and back. You can find this design and more HERE.

On the inside cover, I was able to have my name and number (not shown, of course) printed on the inside for no additional cost. Below that is a Tiny Tulips preppy whale sticker. I love this sticker so I had to put it here in the front.

The page over was blank with a spot to write additional information, but I decided to cover it with this striped paper. With everything you order from Minted comes this paper with a printed thank you or invoice on the other side in a plain brown folder. I turned the invoice around and used the stripes as the dashboard with funky washi-inspired stickers to decorate. I guess I have a thing for owls. :)

Taped to the dashboard is a post-it color coding each topic I may record here in the planner. Light blue - blogging, pink - home, green - bills due, etc. This helps me instantly notice my tasks.

This is an example of the monthly outlook page. I jot down anything I know that may be coming up or things I don't plan on adding on a day-to-day basis. As you can see, I have a thing for random stickers including Olaf. Love him!

Below is an example of the weekly sections. I've decorated with more stickers and washi tape.

This is a pocket in the back where I store my stickers. I mostly use these long stickers with the owls and dots to do edges or add a little color to a day. The owls are super cute, right?

The labels to the left I've used mostly for writing quotes I come across that inspire me or I don't want to forget. You can see them above.

This is the reverse side of the pocket and holds some post-its with some notes on them and across from that is the sheet of stickers that came with the planner. I love the colors. Behind these are page tags.

These are the folders I told you about that came from Minted when I ordered my planner and other things. The one on the right is more of a pocket and holds my daily schedule. On the outside I taped the label to a book I reviewed last year. The publishers were kind enough to take a quote from my review and include it on the book jacket. How awesome is that?! I am so honored by it, I saved it and added it to my planner so I can see it every day!

The folder on the right is attached to my planner with simple paper clips. The heart clips are from the Dollar Tree. Super affordable and really cute! I store my page tabs and more post-its inside the folder with some spare paper clips.

These are the pens I use. I also keep some highlighters nearby so I can really make sure I don't forget anything. The purple washi tape is from the Dollar Tree and the gold and red washi rolls are from Minted.com as well.

This whole planner thing is working out great! I finally can organize and manage my tasks according to day and importance. I don't forget anything anymore and love personalizing it!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Do you use a planner? What kind do you use? Include a link below if you've posted about it. I love checking them out!

  1. When I worked I meticulously used a day planner to make sure I kept on track. Since I retired, I let my iPhone to-do list handle my schedule. I feel so much better now that I have fewer deadlines and must-dos. - Margy

    1. I tried to use the calendar and planner in my phone but with all of the blog stuff, it was way to much so it's easier to jot it down really quick for easy reference. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love my planner and have been using one for years! Right now my planner is a beach themed planner I bought at Wal-Mart. I usually schedule it out either Saturday or Sunday for the week ahead. I keep all 4 of our schedules on one, so anyone in the family can look and see what is going on. Thanks for the past. Love your planner!

    1. There are a lot of great things to decorate your planner on Erst that are inexpensive and super cute, but I went with dollar store items for now until I find a cohesive decor plan. Hope this helps. :)
