Tour Through Blogland: The Organized Dream

8:09 PM

Well, let's start! I'm Kate and I'm the quirky little author here at The Organized Dream. I find my muse through pretty much anything. I could look at the simplest of things and think of so many different ways I could use it. My hobbies are crafting because it's my artistic outlet. I love recipes and trying new things. The piece de resistance of my life is organizing. Someone who is as OCD as myself needs organization ten-fold. Everything has to have a place. It's definitely my "thing" to say the least. :D In share my home with 2 amazing people, my hubby and my daughter. Yes, they have to put up with the incessant cleaning and all that. The poor things! lol!!! Oh, geez.

I was contacted by Amanda from The Kolb Corner to participate in this great little thing called Tour Through Blogland. She is someone I recently started following. Her blog is truly amazing! She blogs about awesome DIY projects and even as a super organized page of recipes by category! Please visit her and show her some love!

Well, let's move on to the questions, shall we?

What are you working on?
Well, right now I'm working on surprising my daughter for her 8th birthday. This is the first year that her birthday falls on a school day so I wanted to make it super special. She, like every other little girl, is obsessed with Frozen so to play in that theme, I plan on decorating my kitchen and transforming it into a Frozen winter wonderland. It's a challenge for sure since it's August and it's obviously hard to find winter decor, but I'm up for it.

This isn't going to be a party by any means since it's going to be like 6:30 in the morning and the second day of school, but I wanted the same concept. I thought that it would be unexpected to wake up on a school day to a mini party in the kitchen. Aside from the basics above, I was going to try to incorporate streamers from the ceiling with pom poms I plan on tackling homemade style. I've done miniature ones for her cake topper last year so this should be a cinch.....I hope!

{Her cake from last year...100% homemade. I think I did a good job! ::pats on back::}

Along side the decorations in the kitchen, I plan on decking out her room with balloons all over her floor. I did this last year and she absolutely loved it. I also enjoy making her a doorway curtain with streamers and balloons. I'm stealing this idea from last year as well.

For breakfast, I've Googled  and searched Pinterest for ideas, but since it's a school morning, making a pancake platter in the shape of Olaf might seem too much for me to handle that early. Let's face it, I'm no Superwoman. I need my sleep. So, I'm going to plan on having the basics. I plan on doing a post of her festive day so stay tuned for it!

Because I've been putting so much time and effort into making her day so awesomely spectacular, I haven't been focused on projects to share, but feel free to search around. Like almost everything else, my menu above is pretty darn organized with projects, recipes and more!

How does your work differ from others in it's genre?
Honestly, there are so many DIYers and home/life bloggers out there that I can only say that I like to put a little bit of me into everything I do. Even if it is something I found on Pinterest. I come from a super organized and thoroughly clean household growing up. My mother was and still is the queen of clean. I like to incorporate what she has taught me into my projects and my home. No one does it quite like her.

Here's some of my organizing projects:

-My Organized Fridge post showed the "proper" way to store your foods according to my mother. I do have to say that she was 100% right because since I've reorganized my fridge, my food lasts longer!

-My Organized  Dresser post is something I'm super proud of considering I was able to fit over 100 clothing items in just 2 drawers!

Why do you write/create what you do?
As I'm sure a lot of you mothers out there know, I'm home a lot of the time cooking, cleaning, you know, the usual. I wanted to use my spare time showing others how I "get things done". I aspire to be the crafty, creative person someone could look to for inspiration. (Hence the three words under my title.)

-This photo is from one of my first project posts on how to make a Spring Floral Topiary.

How does your writing/creative process work?
Well, basically, from the creative aspect, I start by looking at a space in my home that needs a little extra something.

For Instance:

-I looked at a blank wall in my daughter's room and came up with quotes from Audrey Hepburn in my DIY Framed Quotes post.

- I look at a closet and come up with new ways to organize and improve space like in my Linen Closet Organization post.

The writing part comes later. If I'm truly inspired by my project, recipe, whatever...I find writing comes naturally. I blog about 4-5 times a week. Of course, that's if you include the link party I participate in, but I find that the link party is just as inspiring and creative as anything I could do. I enjoy seeing what people are up to. Sometimes, they are my muse. I write some posts in bulk while others take a lot longer.

And that's all she wrote. Let's move on to the one I tag!!
